Docs and support
Docs, answers and support.
Import a text-based PDF, ask in plain English, then verify the answer against the cited page. That is the whole loop.
Getting started
- Launch Doclume, read the welcome screen, then choose I understand — get started.
- Open Documents → Import PDFs and select text-based files. Extraction and indexing show a progress bar.
- When a document shows Indexed, open Ask questions and press Ctrl+Enter (or Ask).
- Click a source chip or inline marker to open the citation viewer: cited excerpt plus full extracted page text.
- Use Summarize document or Key points for overviews; Export Markdown keeps any thread.
Frequently asked questions
Which PDFs can Doclume read?
Text-based PDFs with selectable text — contracts, reports, manuals. Scanned or image-only PDFs contain no extractable text and are reported as such; version 1.0.1 includes no OCR.
Can I search across all my documents?
Yes. Set Ask about to All imported documents — for example, "Which document mentions the renewal date?" The answer cites the document and page it drew from.
Where is my data stored?
In a local database under your Windows user profile. Originals are never modified, and by default not even copied — only extracted text is indexed. Enabling "Import a managed copy" keeps a copy in the app data folder; deleting the document removes it.
Does Doclume upload my documents?
No. Processing, retrieval and the language model all run on your computer. The application contains no accounts, telemetry, analytics or advertising identifiers. Website hosting logs are a separate matter — see the privacy policy.
Why did the first answer take a while?
The local model loads into memory on first use, which takes several seconds on a CPU-only machine. Later questions are faster. You can also load or stop the model from Settings.
What if the documents do not contain the answer?
Doclume says so explicitly instead of guessing. Answers are still generated automatically and can be incomplete — verify important information against the source.
How do I get support?
Write to support@kasamcorporation.com with the app version (Settings → About), the model status (Settings → Local AI model), and a description of the problem. Never send confidential documents by email.
